In the middle of another break from school, A-Ko dreams of finding the perfect boyfriend. Because of this, she and C-Ko get into an argument that leads to C-Ko running away and nearly getting hit by a motorcyclist named Kei. While working part-time at a fast-food restaurant to raise money for a party dress, A-Ko meets Kei and immediately falls in love with him. B-Ko happens to like him as well; however, both A-Ko and B-Ko are unaware that C-Ko is the apple of Kei's eyes.

Where it came from
Released in 1988, Project A-Ko 3: Cinderella Rhapsody represents the third entry in the influential Project A-Ko franchise, a series that gained significant traction during the golden age of 1980s direct-to-video animation in Japan. Produced by Pony Canyon and animated by Studio Fantasia, the project transitioned away from the chaotic, parodic science fiction themes of the previous installments to focus on a romantic comedy structure centered on the protagonist A-Ko's social life.
The visual direction for this installment maintained the aesthetic hallmarks of character designer Yuji Moriyama, whose style defined the series' vibrant, high-energy look. By shifting the genre focus, the creators aimed to explore character dynamics in a school setting, though the change in tone was met with varied reactions from an audience that had grown accustomed to the high-stakes action and parody elements of the earlier films.
