Qin Shi Mingyue: Luo Shengtang Xia

Qin Shi Mingyue: Luo Shengtang Xia, also known as The Legend of Qin: Under the Falling Blossoms, is a specialized ONA release that serves as a narrative bridge within the broader Qin Shi Mingyue franchise. Produced by Sparkly Key Animation, the project was created to expand the depth of the series' martial arts universe, focusing on character-driven side stories that complement the main historical epic. It emerged during a period when the studio was actively experimenting with cinematic storytelling techniques to elevate the visual standard of Chinese animation.

The visual design of this production reflects the signature aesthetic of Sparkly Key Animation, characterized by a fusion of traditional Chinese ink-wash influences and high-fidelity 3D character modeling. The creators aimed to capture the ethereal atmosphere of the Wuxia genre, emphasizing fluid motion and intricate costume details that signify character rank and origin. Upon its release, the work was well-received by the existing fanbase for its ability to maintain the series' high production values while exploring the nuanced emotional landscapes of its supporting cast.
