Where it came from
Red Fox was produced by the South Korean studio Laftel, emerging as part of the studio's initiative to adapt popular webtoon properties into the ONA (Original Net Animation) format. The series is based on the dark fantasy webcomic written and illustrated by Happy Flame, which gained significant traction for its gritty atmosphere and complex mythological narrative.
The animation design focuses on translating the intricate, moody aesthetic of the original webtoon into a fluid digital medium. By emphasizing the somber color palette and the psychological tension inherent in the source material, the adaptation sought to retain the dark, fable-like quality that resonated with readers of the serialized comic. Upon its release, it was received as a faithful expansion of the original's unique artistic vision.
