Resident Evil: Damnation

Resident Evil: Damnation was produced by Sony Pictures Entertainment and Capcom as the second computer-generated imagery feature film in the long-running Resident Evil franchise. Released in 2012, the film serves as a direct follow-up to the 2008 movie Resident Evil: Degeneration, continuing the narrative path established in the video game series rather than the live-action films. It was designed to bridge the gap between game installments by focusing on the character Leon S. Kennedy during an Eastern European conflict involving the deployment of biological weapons.

The film was directed by Makoto Kamiya and produced by Hiroyuki Kobayashi, who sought to leverage high-end motion capture and 3D animation to mirror the cinematic intensity of the games. The design aesthetic emphasized tactical realism and atmospheric horror, aiming for a gritty, war-torn backdrop that distinguished it from the interior-focused environments of earlier entries. Upon its release, the film was generally well-received by the dedicated fan base for its commitment to the established game lore and its sophisticated action sequences.
