Where it came from
Released between 2011 and 2012, this four-part OVA series serves as the concluding chapter to the Tales of Symphonia animation project. Produced by studio ufotable, the arc adapts the climactic events of the Tethe'alla and Sylvarant unification story, focusing on the resolution of the game's core narrative themes regarding coexistence and prejudice.
The animation reflects the signature visual evolution of ufotable during this period, characterized by a transition toward the high-fidelity digital compositing and cinematic lighting that would later define their work on the Fate series. Directed by Haruo Sotozaki, the production sought to balance the dense RPG source material with the demands of an OVA format, receiving praise from fans of the original game for its faithful visual translation of character designs and battle sequences.
