Tesla Note: Mickey to Oliver no Agent Yousei Kouza

Tesla Note was originally conceived as a multi-media franchise created by Masafumi Nishida, Tadayoshi Kubo, and Kouta Sannomiya. The narrative follows Botan Negoro, a high-schooler trained as a spy, as she navigates an international conflict centered on the 'Tesla Notes,' powerful artifacts left behind by Nikola Tesla. The concept was designed to blend high-stakes espionage tropes with anime-style supernatural elements, aiming to capture an audience interested in fast-paced action and historical fiction.

The 2021 ONA adaptation was produced by W-Toon Studio under the direction of Michio Fukuda. The project faced significant challenges regarding its animation quality and production pacing, which led to a polarized reception upon its release. While the source material attempted to establish a unique mythology surrounding Tesla's legacy, the final animated product is frequently cited in discussions about the limitations of smaller-scale digital animation studios attempting complex action sequences.
