Provenance

Where it came from

The Marshmallow Times, known in Japan as 'Marshmallow Tsūshin', was produced by Studio Comet and premiered in 2004. This animated series emerged during a period when the studio was well-regarded for its work on children's television programming, often focusing on whimsical characters and lighthearted, character-driven narratives that appealed to a younger demographic.

The series was inspired by the character designs of Saori Oguni, who created the mascot characters that define the show's aesthetic. The animation sought to create a soft, gentle atmosphere centered around a community of marshmallow-like creatures, reflecting a design philosophy rooted in comfort and accessibility. While it did not achieve widespread international cult status, it remains a notable example of the studio's mid-2000s output, serving as a snapshot of the specific visual style prevalent in daytime children's anime of that era.
