What does it mean to become an adult? While it may seem like it brings freedom, the transition into adulthood can also create a gap between loved ones. For the teenagers who once laughed together, work, distance, and responsibilities widen the rift between them. Reminiscence reminds them of the joy-filled times when they were more carefree, and even now, through thick and thin, their love perseveres.

Where it came from
Tokyo Autumn Session is an animated music video produced by the Japanese studio CloverWorks in 2017. It serves as the opening theme and visual narrative for the music project HoneyWorks, specifically accompanying their song of the same name. The piece was created to expand the 'Confession Executive Committee' universe, a multimedia franchise characterized by its focus on high school romance and emotional longing, which began as a series of Vocaloid songs before evolving into films and light novels.
The character designs were handled by the HoneyWorks team, reflecting the bright, expressive, and sentimental aesthetic that defines the studio's broader body of work. CloverWorks brought a polished, cinematic sensibility to the animation, emphasizing soft autumn color palettes and detailed atmospheric lighting to ground the emotional stakes of the characters. Upon its release, the video was well-received by fans of the franchise for its ability to convey a complex, heartfelt story within the short duration of a single track.
