Tomica Hyper Rescue Drive Head Kidou Kyuukyuu Keisatsu

Tomica Hyper Rescue Drive Head Kidou Kyuukyuu Keisatsu was produced by TBS and OLM in 2017 as part of a multi-media collaboration between the broadcaster and Takara Tomy. The series served as a strategic expansion of the Tomica brand, utilizing the established popularity of the long-running die-cast toy line to anchor a new narrative centered on emergency service-themed mecha. By integrating the recognizable aesthetics of rescue vehicles into a futuristic police-action framework, the project sought to engage younger viewers while driving toy sales through highly articulated transformable figures.

The character and mecha designs were executed with a focus on modularity and clear color coding, mirroring the visual language of the physical toy line. The creative team emphasized a heroic, safety-oriented mission structure that differentiated the series from traditional combat-focused robot anime. Upon its release, the series was well-received within its target demographic for its dynamic transformation sequences and the seamless synergy between the on-screen technology and the associated consumer products available at retail.
