Tsugumomo2, officially titled Tsugumomo: 2nd Season, was produced by Studio Zero-G and released in 2020 as the direct sequel to the 2017 anime adaptation of Yoshikazu Hamada’s supernatural manga series. The series emerged from the long-running manga's popularity, which began serialization in 2007, focusing on the character Kazuya Kagami and his interactions with various tsukumogami. The second season was specifically crafted to adapt the middle arcs of the source material, balancing the series' signature blend of comedic fan service, intense martial arts choreography, and intricate mythological world-building.

The production team, led by director Ryoichi Kuraya, aimed to maintain the high-fidelity animation style established in the first season while escalating the complexity of the battles. The character designs were handled by Kiyotaka Nakahara, who worked to preserve the distinct artistic nuances of Hamada’s original panels. Upon its broadcast, the series was noted by viewers for its experimental approach to action sequences and its faithful, if sometimes controversial, adaptation of the manga’s unique tonal shifts between lighthearted school life and visceral, supernatural combat.
