Where it came from
Twins in Bakery was produced by Geidai Animation, the specialized graduate animation program at Tokyo University of the Arts. Established to foster independent creative voices, the studio is known for its rigorous approach to artistic expression, often focusing on experimental storytelling and traditional craft techniques that deviate from mainstream commercial anime aesthetics.
The film emerged from the studio's mandate to support student-led auteur projects, providing a platform for burgeoning animators to refine their personal visual languages. The design and narrative intent prioritize intimate, atmosphere-driven sequences over high-octane spectacle, reflecting the program's emphasis on art-school sensibilities and the meticulous, labor-intensive processes inherent to independent short-form animation.
