Uchuu no Kishi Tekkaman Blade OVA: Missing Link

Uchuu no Kishi Tekkaman Blade: Missing Link was released in 1999 as a standalone direct-to-video production serving as a bridge between the original 1992 television series and its sequel, Tekkaman Blade II. Produced by Tatsunoko Production, the OVA was created to satisfy persistent fan interest in the narrative gaps surrounding the Tekkaman system and the tragic origins of its protagonists. It utilizes a mix of recap footage and new animation to contextualize the desperate struggle against the Radam alien invasion.

The design aesthetic remains faithful to the mechanical and character work of the original series, featuring the sharp, angular armor characteristic of the era's science fiction anime. Directed by Hiroshi Negishi, the production aimed to provide closure for lingering character arcs while maintaining the melancholic, high-stakes atmosphere that defined the franchise. Upon release, it was received by the fan community as a nostalgic capstone that clarified the complex lore surrounding the Tekkaman evolution process.
