Umamusume: Pretty Derby Season 3

Umamusume: Pretty Derby Season 3 was released in 2023 as the latest television installment in the expansive multimedia franchise produced by Cygames. The series follows the tradition of anthropomorphizing legendary Japanese racehorses into girls known as 'horse girls,' focusing on their athletic training and personal growth within the fictional Tracen Academy. Studio KAI took over the production duties for this season, building upon the established narrative foundation set by P.A. Works in the first season and Studio Kai's previous work on the second.

The creative direction for the third season centers on the journey of Kitasan Black, a character inspired by the real-life champion racehorse, as she navigates the pressures of professional racing and her aspirations to surpass her idols. The production team aimed to capture the intensity of high-stakes track competition while maintaining the emotional character-driven storytelling that has defined the series. Upon its release, it was met with dedicated engagement from the franchise's established fanbase, who appreciated the technical execution of the race sequences and the continued development of the ensemble cast.
