Where it came from
Utano Princesama Maji LOVE STARISH TOURS: The Journey Begins was released in 2022 as a theatrical concert film celebrating the long-running Uta no Prince-sama franchise. Produced by A-1 Pictures, the film serves as a dedicated live-stage performance featuring the fictional idol group STARISH. It was developed to immerse fans in a high-fidelity concert experience that goes beyond the traditional narrative arcs of the television series, focusing instead on the group's choreography, musical production, and stage presence.
The film's design aesthetic leans heavily into concert realism, utilizing advanced 3D CG animation to capture complex dance routines and intricate costume details that would be difficult to sustain in standard animation. The creative team aimed to replicate the feeling of an actual arena tour, receiving praise from the fan base for its technical polish and for elevating the music-centric identity of the series. It stands as a significant milestone in the franchise's visual evolution, emphasizing the performers' growth as seasoned idols.
