Where it came from
Virtually Real - Cybervenus FeiFei was produced by Fuji TV in 2001 as part of an experimental wave of digital media during the early 2000s. It emerged during a period when Japanese broadcast networks were actively exploring the potential of computer-generated characters and virtual idols to bridge the gap between television broadcasting and early internet culture.
The design of the titular character reflected the aesthetic of turn-of-the-millennium digital art, prioritizing sleek, futuristic visuals that were intended to showcase advancements in real-time motion capture and 3D rendering. While the project was notable for its technical ambition at the time, it is largely remembered today as a historical artifact of early digital performance, representing a nascent attempt to create synthetic pop culture figures that could exist independently of traditional animation.
