Where it came from
The ViVid Strike! OVA serves as a follow-up to the 2016 television anime series produced by Seven Arcs Pictures. Released in 2017, this project was designed to expand upon the magical girl and martial arts fusion established by creator Masaki Tsuzuki, who is widely known for his work on the Lyrical Nanoha franchise. The OVA was crafted to provide fans with additional character development and lighthearted narrative beats that were less prominent in the core series' intense competitive matches.
The production team focused on maintaining the stylistic continuity established during the show’s original broadcast, ensuring the character designs and fluid combat animations remained consistent with Seven Arcs' signature aesthetic. Upon its release, the OVA was received as a niche but welcomed addition by the dedicated community of the franchise, serving as a coda to the characters' arcs while highlighting the studio's technical proficiency in blending high-energy action sequences with character-focused storytelling.
