Where it came from
Watame Did Borderline Nothing Wrong is a 2022 original net animation series produced by Cover Corp, featuring the virtual YouTuber Tsunomaki Watame. It was created as a promotional and entertainment series designed to showcase the character's personality and lore within the Hololive Production ecosystem. The animation style mirrors the whimsical and lighthearted tone typical of the brand's video shorts, utilizing 2D animation to depict humorous, slice-of-life scenarios centered around the character's community-driven narrative tropes.
The series title is a play on the long-running internet meme and catchphrase 'Watame did nothing wrong,' which originated from the character's tendency to unintentionally cause chaos in gaming streams. By leaning into this self-referential humor, Cover Corp aimed to deepen fan engagement and provide accessible content for both established viewers and newcomers. The series was well-received by the VTuber community for its tight pacing and successful translation of the character's broadcast persona into a scripted, episodic format.
