The original rendition of Watashi no Kamifuusen sung by Akai Tori and animated by Mouri Atsushi. Due to the copyright law of the time, price of film reels, and overwriting tapes, Watashi no Kamifuusen from 1971 remains to be one that is missing both its audio tape and video tape, as such the music video as a whole is considered lost media.

Where it came from
Watashi no Kamifuusen, or My Paper Balloon, originated as a short animated film produced by NHK in the early 1970s. It was created as part of the network's efforts to produce high-quality, artistic animation for children, often featured within music-oriented programs like Minna no Uta. The film reflects the era's experimentation with surrealist imagery and gentle, melancholic storytelling, prioritizing a reflective mood over traditional narrative structure.
The animation is characterized by a distinctive, hand-drawn aesthetic that captures the delicate texture of paper and the fleeting nature of the titular balloon. It was designed to evoke a sense of transient childhood wonder, utilizing a soft color palette and rhythmic pacing to harmonize with its accompanying musical score. Upon its release, it became a beloved piece of NHK's archival library, frequently cited by animation enthusiasts for its atmospheric direction and artistic restraint.
