The hard-working men and women of the Bokuto Traffic Corps are back on the scene, but this time they've got more to worry about than everyday traffic violations! During a routine arrest, they recover a secret document detailing step-by-step instructions to terrorists on how to wipe Tokyo off the map! Even the precinct station isn't safe from the bloodthirsty murderers that want this information, or from the rogue who wrote it.

Where it came from
Released in 1999 by Studio DEEN, You're Under Arrest! The Motion Picture serves as a cinematic expansion of the popular police procedural manga series created by Kōsuke Fujishima. The film was produced to capitalize on the sustained popularity of the franchise following the successful television anime adaptation, bridging the gap between the mundane realities of traffic duty and higher-stakes criminal investigations. The narrative focuses on the dynamic partnership between Natsumi Tsujimoto and Miyuki Kobayakawa, emphasizing the series' signature blend of character-driven humor and detailed mechanical animation.
The production design reflects the aesthetic standards of late-90s anime, characterized by a meticulous attention to vehicle accuracy and urban atmosphere. Directed by Junji Nishimura, the film sought to translate the manga's grounded, slice-of-life charm onto a larger canvas, maintaining the distinct visual identity established by the television series. Upon its release, it was received as a faithful continuation of the source material, celebrated by fans for its focus on the camaraderie of the Bokuto Precinct officers and its technical proficiency in depicting automotive action sequences.
