Where it came from
The Yuru Camp△ OVA series was produced by studio C-Station following the success of the 2018 television anime adaptation of Afro's manga series. These short-form episodes were released as part of the home video volumes to provide fans with additional slices of life involving the characters Nadeshiko, Rin, and the rest of the Outdoor Activities Circle. The project served as a companion piece to the main narrative, maintaining the series' signature focus on the soothing, contemplative beauty of solo and group camping in Japan.
Directed by Yoshiaki Kyogoku, the OVA episodes were designed to replicate the atmospheric and cozy aesthetic that defined the main show. The production team emphasized detailed background art and realistic depictions of camping gear to retain the grounded, instructional charm of the source material. Upon release, these episodes were received warmly by the existing fanbase, who appreciated the lighthearted, low-stakes storytelling that solidified the show's reputation as a quintessential example of the iyashikei, or healing, anime genre.
