Yurumates 3D PLUS

Yurumates 3D PLUS was produced by DAX Production in 2012 as a sequel series to the original Yurumates anime adaptation. The project is based on the four-panel manga by artist saxyun, which centers on the daily lives of residents living in a unique apartment building. The series maintains the minimalist, humorous tone of its source material, focusing on the comedic interactions of characters who have failed their university entrance exams and are attempting to study while living together.

The 3D animation style utilized in this iteration was an experimental departure from the traditional 2D aesthetic of the previous season. The production aimed to lean into a distinct visual identity that complemented the short-form, gag-heavy nature of the sketches. While the transition to a 3D format received mixed reactions from long-time fans of the manga, it remains a notable example of the era's experimentation with integrating 3D modeling into short-form anime broadcast television.
