Bruno Schulz, il profeta sommerso

Bruno Schulz, il profeta sommerso is a collection of writings and drawings dedicated to the Polish writer and artist Bruno Schulz, published by Libri Scheiwiller in 2000. It emerged as part of an enduring intellectual effort to preserve the legacy of Schulz, whose surrealist prose and distinctive visual art were largely lost or suppressed during the tumultuous political landscape of mid-twentieth-century Europe. The publication serves as a scholarly tribute, compiling primary materials and critical analysis to contextualize Schulz's visionary, dreamlike aesthetic within the framework of European modernist literature.

The volume benefits from the archival care typical of Scheiwiller, a publisher noted for its commitment to high-quality literary and artistic catalogues. The design and editorial choices focus on presenting Schulz's intricate, often macabre illustrations alongside his dense, mythopoetic texts to offer a holistic view of the artist. Upon its release, the book was received by scholars and bibliophiles as a necessary contribution to the understanding of Schulz's unique creative output, reinforcing his standing as a master of the grotesque and the fantastic.
