Fairy Prince and Other Stories

Fairy Prince and Other Stories is a compilation of literary works by Eleanor Hallowell Abbott, an American author who gained significant prominence during the early 20th century. Abbott was a master of the short story format, frequently published in popular magazines like The Atlantic Monthly and The Ladies' Home Journal. Her writing is characterized by a whimsical, often conversational style that captures the sentimental and romantic sensibilities prevalent in the genteel literary culture of the Progressive Era.

The 2016 edition published through CreateSpace is a modern reprint designed to make Abbott's out-of-copyright fiction accessible to contemporary readers. These volumes typically feature simple, minimalist cover designs that prioritize readability over the elaborate decorative aesthetics found in the original periodicals of the 1910s. This specific collection serves as an entry point for readers interested in the evolution of early American short fiction and the distinctive, slightly eccentric prose style that defined Abbott’s career.
