Where it came from
Gigantosaurus, published by Candlewick Press in 2019, is a narrative adaptation rooted in the world of the popular animated television series created by Cyber Group Studios. The book was developed to extend the reach of the show's CGI-rendered prehistoric world to a younger, print-based audience, focusing on four young dinosaurs—Rocky, Bill, Tiny, and Mazu—as they navigate their environment and learn about the formidable, mysterious Gigantosaurus.
The visual design of the book translates the vibrant, saturated aesthetic of the television series into a static format, utilizing bright colors and simplified character models to maintain appeal for preschool-aged readers. As part of a broader multimedia franchise, this publication serves as a supplementary experience for existing fans of the series, receiving standard distribution within the children’s literary market as a character-driven picture book.
