Jacobus Perez von Valencia

This academic monograph was published by the venerable German house Mohr Siebeck in 1959 as part of their ongoing efforts to document late medieval and early Renaissance theological history. Authored by Wilfrid Werbeck, the volume provides a rigorous historical and intellectual analysis of Jacobus Perez von Valencia, a 15th-century Spanish theologian and Augustinian friar known for his scriptural commentaries and influence within the ecclesiastical structures of his time.

The work emerged from the mid-20th-century European scholarly tradition of detailed biographical studies of minor scholastic figures. Werbeck’s design for the text emphasizes archival precision and critical examination of primary sources, reflecting the scholarly rigor expected of the publisher. As a specialized academic reference, it was intended primarily for theological libraries and research institutions, remaining a foundational, if niche, resource for those studying the intersection of Augustinian thought and 15th-century Church history.
