Ludwig's Handbook of New Testament rulers & cities

Published in 1983 by Accent Books, this handbook was designed to serve as a concise reference tool for students of biblical history and theology. During the late 20th century, there was a significant market for accessible, lay-oriented literature that bridged the gap between academic biblical studies and personal devotional reading, and this volume was crafted to meet that demand by contextualizing the geopolitical landscape of the New Testament era.

Charles Ludwig, a prolific writer known for his biographical and educational religious texts, authored this work with the intent of simplifying complex historical lineages for a general audience. The book focuses on mapping the lives of rulers and the development of key urban centers, providing readers with a clearer understanding of the pressures early Christians faced under Roman and Herodian authority. While not intended as a scholarly peer-reviewed work, it was received as a functional, supplemental guide within evangelical study groups of the period.
