Where it came from
A Time and a Place is a comprehensive box set released by Shout! Factory that chronicles the live performance history of Emerson, Lake & Palmer during their 1970s prime. Compiled to satisfy the demand for archival recordings, the set focuses on raw, unvarnished concert performances that capture the virtuosic intensity of Keith Emerson, Greg Lake, and Carl Palmer as they pioneered the progressive rock genre on stages across the globe.
The collection was curated to provide a historical counterpoint to the band's polished studio albums, offering listeners a glimpse into their improvisational prowess and technical scale. By focusing on concert recordings from the early 1970s, the set showcases the trio’s transition from a burgeoning supergroup to one of the most commercially successful acts of the era, highlighting the intricate arrangements that defined their signature sound.
