Where it came from
Released in 2016 by Universal Music, this CD serves as a retrospective compilation of the solo work of Eric Carmen, the American singer-songwriter best known for his time with the Raspberries and his subsequent success as a solo artist. This collection was curated to gather his most enduring power-pop and soft-rock hits, reflecting the polished, melodic production style that defined his career transition from the early 1970s through his chart success in the 1980s.
The album reflects the broader industry trend of reissuing foundational pop catalogs for CD-based listeners, ensuring that tracks like 'All by Myself' and 'Hungry Eyes' remained accessible in a high-fidelity format. Designed to appeal to long-time fans and listeners rediscovering soft-rock classics, the compilation maintains a straightforward aesthetic that emphasizes Carmen's role as a craftsman of the radio-friendly ballad, a reputation solidified during his peak years on the Arista and Capitol labels.
