Jen

Released in 2014 by Universal Music Latino, the album Jen represents the third studio effort by Cuban-American singer and actor Jencarlos Canela. The project was conceived as a transition for the artist, aiming to bridge his established career in Latin telenovelas with a more focused pursuit of a contemporary pop and urban sound. It features production work from several notable names in the Latin music industry, including Jota Rosa and Elvis Crespo, who sought to blend rhythmic dance-pop elements with the melodic sensibilities of Latin ballads.

The album's design and aesthetic were crafted to present Jencarlos as a mature, self-assured recording artist, shifting away from his television character archetypes. Upon its release, the record received generally positive attention from fans of the Latin pop genre, particularly for its polished production and accessible songwriting. While critics often noted its conventional approach to the pop landscape, the album served as a significant milestone in Jencarlos's discography, helping him solidify his presence in the international Latin music charts during a period of transition in his professional career.
