Le Voyage En Ballon / Un Jardin Public (Bande Originale Du Film D'Albert Lamorisse)

This release features the original film scores for Albert Lamorisse’s 1960 travelogue Le Voyage en ballon and the 1955 short Un Jardin public. Jean Prodromidès composed these works during a period when he was becoming a central figure in French cinematic music, often collaborating with directors to blend symphonic textures with the whimsical, humanistic tone characteristic of Lamorisse’s storytelling. These scores capture the lighthearted yet poignant atmosphere of mid-century French cinema, reflecting the director’s focus on childhood wonder and visual landscapes.

The 2009 edition was curated by the label Disques Cinémusique to preserve and distribute these less accessible soundtracks for a new generation of film score enthusiasts. By pairing these two specific works, the release highlights Prodromidès's versatility in underscoring both the sweeping aerial adventure of a hot-air balloon journey across France and the intimate, observational nature of a public park. The project was received as a valuable archival contribution, documenting a specific era of French film scoring that favored melodic clarity and evocative orchestration.
