Where it came from
Released in 2001 by Gallimard Jeunesse, this disc is part of a series intended to introduce young audiences to the world of electroacoustic music. Philippe Mion, a distinguished composer associated with the Groupe de Recherches Musicales (GRM), created this work to demystify complex sound design by framing it within a playful, narrative-driven auditory journey featuring the characters Loulou and Pierrot-la-Lune.
The project reflects the educational mission of Gallimard Jeunesse to blend contemporary art forms with childhood storytelling. By utilizing the medium of the CD, Mion provides an interactive listening experience that encourages children to identify disparate sound textures, aiming to bridge the gap between abstract sound art and traditional music education through structured, whimsical storytelling.
