"Les Maîtres Du Classique" : Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Alexandre Borodine

The Les Maîtres Du Classique series was produced by Bella Musica, a label dedicated to making core classical repertoire accessible to a broader audience. This specific compilation features the works of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and Alexander Borodin, two pillars of the nineteenth-century Russian nationalist school known as The Five. The selections focus on their most iconic orchestral works, which were originally composed to evoke the folklore, vast landscapes, and historical narratives of Russia using rich, colorful instrumentation.

The design of this release reflects the standard aesthetic of mid-market European classical compilations from the late twentieth century, prioritizing clear labeling and recognizable repertoire to guide the listener. These collections were assembled to provide a survey of orchestral color and romantic lyricism, serving as an entry point for listeners interested in the late-Romantic tradition. The series was generally received as a functional and reliable resource for educational listening and library building.
