Provenance

Where it came from

The 2025 release of the soundtrack to the cult Italian horror-comedy L'Esorciccio, paired with Paolo Il Freddo, represents a significant archival project by CF Soundtracks to preserve the experimental and humorous compositions of Franco Godi. Originally composed for the 1975 film L'Esorciccio, an Italian parody of the American phenomenon The Exorcist, the music was designed to balance unsettling atmospheric tension with the campy, irreverent tone characteristic of 1970s Italian exploitation cinema. Godi, a versatile composer known for his work in both television and film, utilized a blend of funk-influenced rhythms and traditional soundtrack scoring to underscore the film's satirical nature.

This edition serves to document a niche era of Italian film scoring that often blended serious production values with lighthearted or bizarre cinematic subject matter. The design and curation of this release focus on high-fidelity restoration, aiming to present Godi’s work as a standalone listening experience rather than mere background noise for the films. By grouping the two scores, the label contextualizes Godi’s stylistic range within the vibrant, often chaotic film industry of 1970s Italy, garnering appreciation from soundtrack enthusiasts and collectors of Italian cult film music who value the historical preservation of these rare soundtracks.
