Where it came from
Levenslessen (Van Alain En Ook Alain) was released in 2015 by the Belgian comedy duo Preuteleute, consisting of Alain en ook Alain. Based in the West Flanders region, the group gained a dedicated following through their use of local dialect and a signature brand of irreverent, often ribald humor that focuses on provincial life and exaggerated character archetypes. This CD represents their independent efforts to capture the comedic sketches and songs that had previously defined their regional stage performances.
The album reflects the duo's DIY approach to production, which is consistent with their history as a self-managed musical comedy act. By operating outside of mainstream record labels, the group maintained complete creative control over the content, which prioritizes accessibility to their fan base over polished studio aesthetics. The design and presentation were intended to mirror the informal, grassroots nature of their comedy, serving as a souvenir for attendees of their live shows rather than a traditional commercial music release.
