Where it came from
Meeting Ginastera - Piano And Art Works: Vol. 1 was released in 2014 by the independent label Artalinna as part of a project dedicated to the piano music of the Argentine composer Alberto Ginastera. The collection was designed to explore the intersection of Ginastera’s rigorous 20th-century formal structures with the evolving landscape of contemporary Latin American piano composition, specifically highlighting the influence he exerted on succeeding generations of regional composers.
The album features pianist Gabriel Urgell Reyes, who worked to interpret Ginastera’s complex rhythmic motifs alongside works by Carlos Fariñas. The production was critically noted for its high fidelity and minimalist aesthetic, reflecting Artalinna’s focus on the intersection of visual arts and high-resolution classical music recordings. It is regarded by collectors of contemporary piano repertoire as a significant, albeit niche, document of modern Latin American keyboard literature.
