Music by Nils Holger Petersen

Released in 1997 on the Classico label, this self-titled collection features the work of Danish composer and multi-instrumentalist Nils Holger Petersen. The album emerged during a period where Classico was active in documenting contemporary Scandinavian classical and cross-genre compositions, providing a platform for artists whose work bridged the gap between traditional instrumentation and modern atmospheric arrangements.

The design and composition of the disc reflect Petersen’s focus on introspective, melodic textures. As a musician known for his versatility, Petersen approached the recording with an emphasis on clarity and evocative soundscapes, aiming to capture a sense of Nordic minimalism. Upon its release, the album was noted by critics of the era for its understated technical proficiency and its contribution to the late-nineties independent classical and ambient-adjacent catalog.
