Music From Siesta

The 2013 release of Music from Siesta represents a remastered edition of the 1987 soundtrack for the film Siesta, directed by Mary Lambert. The original project brought together jazz legend Miles Davis and multi-instrumentalist Marcus Miller, who had recently collaborated on the successful album Tutu. The music was composed to evoke a moody, atmospheric Spanish aesthetic, heavily utilizing synthesizers and Miller’s signature bass work layered beneath Davis's distinctively muted trumpet lines.

The score was recorded at a time when Davis was deeply immersed in electronic textures and contemporary production styles. While the film itself received mixed critical reception, the soundtrack was widely praised by jazz critics for its cohesive, brooding soundscape. The 2013 re-release on CD allowed a new generation of listeners to access this niche collaboration, which remains a key example of the experimental fusion era that defined the final decade of Davis's career.
