Where it came from
Released in 2016, the self-titled CD Olly Jenkins represents an independent effort by the artist to consolidate his original material. Issued under the 'Not On Label' designation, this project serves as a direct showcase for the singer-songwriter's acoustic-driven style. It reflects the common practice of emerging musicians in the mid-2010s utilizing CD production as a tactile, personal vessel for distribution at live performances and local community venues.
The design of the release emphasizes a stark, minimalist aesthetic, prioritizing the artist's personal brand over elaborate graphic ornamentation. By opting for a self-released format, Jenkins maintained full creative control, allowing for a focused collection of tracks that lean into intimate folk and pop sensibilities. The project was intended primarily for his growing local audience, functioning as a foundational piece of his early discography.
