Ombra Felice

Released in 2011 by the Signature label, Ombra Felice serves as a dedicated portrait of the French composer Régis Campo. The album features the acclaimed Quatuor Diotima, an ensemble celebrated for their commitment to contemporary string quartet repertoire. The collection presents a selection of Campo’s chamber works, capturing a period in which his compositional style—often characterized by a playful, vibrant, and highly gestural approach—was gaining significant traction within the European contemporary music scene.

The project was produced under the auspices of Radio France, reflecting a broader institutional effort to document the evolution of modern French classical music. By pairing Campo's intricate, rhythmic textures with the technical precision of the Quatuor Diotima, the album was designed to highlight the dialogue between traditional quartet instrumentation and the composer’s unique, often whimsical modern sensibilities. Upon its release, the recording was noted by critics for its clarity and the nuanced performance of the Diotima members, who are recognized for their rigorous advocacy of living composers.
