Where it came from
Released by the specialty German label Wrede - Das Hifi-Haus, this recording captures the organ music of Georg Lange performing at the St. Walburga church in Meschede. The album serves as an example of the high-fidelity liturgical recordings produced in the late 20th century, which focused on capturing the specific acoustic environment of traditional German church architecture rather than mass-market appeal.
The production philosophy behind Wrede's releases prioritized technical transparency and the authentic reproduction of pipe organ timbres. By documenting the instrument within the St. Walburga space, the recording functions as both a musical document and a technical reference disc for audiophiles interested in the spatial characteristics of organ music captured in situ.
