Rivière Noire

Released in 2015 on the Atmosphériques label, this eponymous album serves as the debut project for the French musical collective Rivière Noire. The group, formed by singer Orlando Morais, guitarist Pascal Danaë, and percussionist Jean Lamoot, emerged from a collaborative desire to bridge the rhythmic sensibilities of Brazil with contemporary European production techniques. The album captures a cross-continental dialogue, aiming to create a soundscape that feels both organic and polished through its fusion of world music, jazz, and pop elements.

The album's design and artistic direction reflect the minimalist and atmospheric aesthetic that the trio sought to cultivate throughout their recordings. By stripping away extraneous artifice, the visual identity of the project focuses on a clean, evocative presentation that mirrors the layered, percussive arrangements found within the tracks. Upon its debut, the collection was recognized for its sophisticated approach to fusion, earning critical appreciation in the Francophone music scene for its technical precision and emotional resonance.
