Where it came from
Released by the Italian label Tactus in 2010, this collection serves as a focused exploration of contemporary flute repertoire. The project was conceived to showcase the technical and expressive evolution of the instrument in the new millennium, specifically featuring unpublished works composed for the renowned flutist Roberto Fabbriciani. It acts as a bridge between established 20th-century avant-garde sensibilities and the experimental practices of contemporary Italian composers.
The disc features compositions by notable figures such as Giacomo Manzoni and Luca Lombardi, who collaborated closely with Fabbriciani to push the boundaries of flute performance. The production reflects the aesthetic goals of the Tactus label, which is dedicated to documenting the richness of Italian music history, from the early Baroque to the present day. Upon its release, the album was received by musicologists and specialists as a rigorous catalog of modern extended techniques and a testament to the symbiotic relationship between a master performer and the composers dedicated to his craft.
