Provenance

Where it came from

The Trois-Rivières Metalfest XIII compilation was released in 2013 by the independent label Galy Records to coincide with the thirteenth edition of the eponymous metal festival held in Quebec, Canada. This annual event serves as a significant hub for the regional extreme metal scene, and the compilation was curated to showcase a mix of established acts and emerging heavy metal, death metal, and grindcore bands scheduled to perform at the festival.

The album reflects the raw, aggressive aesthetic common to the Quebec underground metal movement during that era. By compiling tracks from diverse artists, Galy Records intended to provide attendees and listeners with a sonic snapshot of the festival's lineup, reinforcing the label's commitment to documenting and promoting the local scene's intensity and technical craftsmanship.
