Provenance

Where it came from

Released in 2011 by Galy Records, this compilation CD served as an official tie-in to the eleventh edition of the Trois-Rivières Metalfest, a long-standing heavy metal festival held annually in Quebec. The project was conceived to showcase the diversity of the regional and international extreme music scene featured at the festival that year, offering attendees and fans a concentrated sampler of the performing acts.

The album features a curated selection of tracks from bands scheduled to perform at the festival, spanning various subgenres including death metal, thrash, and hardcore. The packaging and tracklist reflect the gritty aesthetic and DIY ethos common to independent metal labels of the era, focusing on promotional accessibility rather than ornate design. It remains a modest but significant historical document for the Quebec metal community, capturing a specific snapshot of the festival's lineup and the mid-tier independent metal landscape of the early 2010s.
