Where it came from
Van-e Élet A Földön... serves as a vital historical document of the Hungarian underground movement of the early 1980s, specifically capturing the frantic, intellectual energy of the band URH. Formed in 1980 by László Müller and Péter Gallai, URH—an acronym for Ultra Rock Hírügynökség—existed for less than a year but became a foundational influence on the Hungarian new wave and punk scenes through their subversive lyrics and dissonant, post-punk aesthetic.
The 1996 release by the Bahia label was part of an effort to archive and preserve these raw, often bootlegged live performances and rehearsal tapes for a wider audience. The collection represents the band's brief but intense output, documenting a period of artistic resistance in socialist-era Budapest. The material is noted for its gritty production, which maintains the uncompromising, spontaneous character that originally defined the band's short-lived residency in the local music circuit.
