Where it came from
Van-e Élet A Földön... was released by the label Bahia in 1995 as a retrospective compilation documenting the short-lived but highly influential Hungarian new wave and underground band, URH. Formed in 1980 by László Pajor and Péter Müller, the group became a seminal force in the Budapest subculture scene, known for their provocative, politically charged lyrics and stark, post-punk musical aesthetic that captured the malaise of late-socialist Hungary.
The album serves as a curated collection of the band's essential studio and live recordings, preserving a legacy that was originally truncated by internal tensions and state censorship. While the band existed for only about a year, they are remembered for their raw, unconventional approach to performance. The design of this release reflects the minimalist and gritty nature of the era's underground scene, prioritizing the preservation of these historical tracks for subsequent generations who missed the band's fleeting original run.
