Von Dornen Und Selbstmord

Von Dornen Und Selbstmord was released in 2021 by the Chinese black metal label Pest Productions. As a project rooted in the atmospheric and depressive black metal subgenres, Nachtreich utilizes this release to explore themes of isolation and introspection through dense, melancholic soundscapes. The album functions as a continuation of the project's pursuit of raw emotional resonance within the underground metal scene, favoring a lo-fi production aesthetic that aligns with the traditional ethos of the genre.

The visual identity and composition of the album are designed to mirror the cold, despondent nature of the music. While the creative direction is largely driven by the singular vision of the artist behind Nachtreich, the production under Pest Productions ensures the release reaches a niche but dedicated international audience. It has been received primarily within the black metal community as a standard-bearer for the atmospheric, solitude-driven movement that characterizes much of the label's output.
