Where it came from
Released in 2006 by the label Äänimaisema Oy, Y-E-AH! is a studio album by Pekka Myllykoski ja Jytäjemmarit. The record serves as a continuation of Myllykoski’s long-standing musical identity, which frequently blended elements of Finnish rock, country, and blues with his trademark witty, character-driven lyricism. The project was conceived during a period when Myllykoski was deeply established in the Finnish music scene, drawing on a career that spanned his earlier work with Sleepy Sleepers and his subsequent solo ventures.
The album reflects the collaborative spirit of Jytäjemmarit, a group known for providing a rustic, roots-inspired backdrop to Myllykoski’s storytelling. The design and thematic focus of the record were centered on the band's appreciation for traditional American song structures adapted into Finnish cultural contexts. Upon its release, the album was received as a heartfelt contribution to the niche of Finnish folk-rock, praised by loyal listeners for maintaining the authentic, unpretentious aesthetic that defined Myllykoski’s body of work throughout his career.
