Ashita Kubi ni Narisō #2

Ashita Kubi ni Narisō, translated roughly as I Might Get Fired Tomorrow, is a manga series created by the artist Kōji Gyōtoku. It emerged during the mid-1990s as a satirical reflection on the rigid structures and anxieties of Japanese corporate salaryman culture. The series utilizes a dark, dry humor to explore the precariousness of employment and the absurdity of bureaucratic life, resonating with a generation facing the end of the post-bubble economic boom.

The design of the second issue continues the series' signature minimalist and deadpan aesthetic, which prioritizes narrative focus over elaborate visual stylization. Gyōtoku’s illustrative style is intentionally restrained, aiming to mirror the monotonous and often claustrophobic environment of the characters. While the series maintains a niche status, it is frequently cited by enthusiasts of alternative manga as a poignant, if cynical, historical artifact of the era's social climate.
