Benoît Brisefer #13

Benoît Brisefer, a classic of Franco-Belgian comics created by Peyo in 1960, centers on a young boy who possesses immense superhuman strength and an unwavering moral compass but remains perpetually vulnerable to the common cold. The series was designed to blend traditional adventure tropes with a gentle, humorous subversion of the superhero archetype, utilizing a clean line style that became synonymous with the Dupuis publishing house during the mid-twentieth century.

The publication history of the series is notable for its irregular output, with long hiatuses between volumes as Peyo focused on his other immensely successful creation, The Smurfs. Volume 13, titled 'La route du sud', was released well after the original golden era of the character had passed, representing a modern effort to revive the franchise. It follows the established visual language of the series while attempting to integrate a more contemporary narrative pace, reflecting the evolution of the European comic landscape toward longer, more complex storytelling.
